At least five gendarmes and five civilians were killed in an attack on a base, in northern Burkina Faso, near the border with Mali.

"Many armed militias conducted an attack on a gendarmerie post in Oursi in the early hours of Monday morning," local sources said.

In Burkina Faso, there have been regular attacks on police, military personnel and civilians, particularly close to the borders with Mali, Niger and Cote d’Ivoire and in the Eastern Region.
