312 thousand Syrian from Idlib have migrated to our border: Soylu
Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Monday that 312 thousand Syrian from Idlib had migrated to Turkey's border until now.
Pointing out that 1.5 million people used to live in Idlib before the civil war, while its current population is 3.7 million, Soylu said : " As of December 1, 2019, 312 thousand people have migrated to places near our border due to recent conflicts. 76 percent of immigrants are women and children. As you know, this is not a voluntary relocation. They have run away with a few items they can take with them. They are coming to 9 campsites outside our border that we've established nearly 20 kilometers away from Turkey."
According to SOHR, 100,000 people were displaced because of the fighting as well as Syrian and Russian bombing. On 23 December, the United Nation stated that the renewed fighting that started on 18 December had caused an exodus of 80,000 people across Idlib Governorate.
More than 235,000 civilians were displaced as of 27 December 2019 per the UN.
