427 million voters in 28 countries go to the polls

427 million voters in 28 member states of the European Union go to the polls for European Parliament elections.

In 28 European Union member states, 427 million voters go to the polls between 23-26 May for European Parliament [EP] elections.

751 European deputies to be determined in the elections, who will serve for 5 years from 2019 to 2024.

The elections in the Netherlands and the UK began today. It will be held in Ireland on 24 May, in Latvia, Malta, and Slovakia on May 25 and in Czechia on 24-25 May. In most EU countries, voters will go to the polls on Sunday, May 26.

The results of the election countries that went to the polls earlier than other countries will not be announced until the last ballot box closes on May 26. At 22:00 on Sunday, the latest box will close in Italy.
