44 irregular migrants apprehended in Turkey’s capital, police say
44 irregular migrants have been apprehended in the Mamak, Altındağ and Gölbaşı district of Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, the Provincial Police Department said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the irregular migrants, including 38 Afghan, 3 Iranian and 3 Uzbek nationals, who were rounded up on Tuesday.
The necessary procedures for the deportation of irregular migrants have been launched, the statement added.
Turkey has traditionally been a major transit port for irregular immigrants to enter the European countries.
According to the official reports, 454,662 irregular migrants held across the country in 2019.
