The explosion took place in the village Shara’ih al-Shimal, killing eight Iraqi soldiers and one civilian, according to local sources.

Sinjar Police department said that the bombing apparently targeted an army commander and seven of his bodyguards.

No group or organization has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
