In the operation carried out by Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams, nearly 800 years of religious motif book written in Hebrew on leather was seized.

According to the statement released by provincial governorate, Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams have reached information that some people try to sell an 800-years-old Hebrew writing book in central Kayapınar district. At least four people were detained in the operation carried out by anti-smuggling and organized crime branch teams.

"In order to save our historical fortune, in the operation carried out in Kayapınar district of Diyarbakır Province on 27 February 2019 in line with the search decision taken from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, these suspected individuals were caught in the act while trying to sell the book with religious motifs on the leather," the statement read.

One book with 11 sheets and 22 pages of Hebrew embroidered figures on leather was uncovered in the forensic search on individuals and workplaces.
