A joint cross-border operation to launch with Iraq: Çavuşoğlu
Turkish Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu said that in partnership with the Iraqi government, a cross-border operation would be launched against the PKK.
"In Iraq, a joint cross-border operation will be launched against the PKK with the Iraqi government. Despite the Afrin operation yet not ended, we have the capacity to carry out both operations simultaneously," said Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with his counterpart Austrian Foreign Minister, European and Integration Minister Karin Kneissl. After the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu said that the Afrin operation would end by May.
Çavuşoğlu expressed that the PKK should be cleaned from Iraq as well. "It should be a joint operation against the PKK by the Iraqi government. The cross-border operation can be launched after the election on May 12 in Iraq," he added.
Çavuşoğlu also said that they are in talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on the joint operation.
Çavuşoğlu also said that the former co-chairman of the PYD, Salih Muslim, is in Sweden and that a temporary arrest was requested from Sweden. (ILKHA)
