Abbas not to participate in Manama meeting

Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas said no one will attend the Manama conference that represents Palestine.

Palestinian Authority (PA) president Mahmoud Abbas has reiterated his refusal to participate in the Bahrain economic workshop to be held in Manama at the end of June.

According to WAFA news agency, Abbas affirmed his position in this regard during his meeting in Amman with Abdullah Al Khalifa, envoy of the Bahraini King.

"I am confident of the King’s wisdom and national positions on the Palestinian question, and his firm support for the Palestinian cause and our people’s steadfastness,” Abbas was quoted as saying.

However, Abbas said he would not participate in the upcoming economic conference in Bahrain.

WAFA also quoted Al Khalifa as saying that his country is adherent to the political solution to the Palestinian cause on the basis of the international legitimacy, the Arab peace initiative, and the two-state solution.

Al Khalifa said that his country is only a host country and not the organizer of the economic workshop.

The Bahrain summit, slated for 25-26 June, is set to see the first elements of Trump's plan (the deal of the century) released and discussed publicly, and is to concentrate on economic incentives offered to the Palestinians.
