Air pollution causes hundreds of thousands of deaths

According to the European Environment Agency's report; air pollution caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands in Europe in 2015.

According to a report released by the European Environment Agency [EEA], air pollution has caused more than 500,000 early deaths in Europe in 2015.

The EEA's report is based on an updated version of the air quality analysis conducted in 28 European Union countries as well as in the 11 countries, not in the European Union.

According to data collected from more than 2,500 observation points, Road transport is one of Europe’s main sources of air pollution, especially of harmful pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter. Air pollution from diesel vehicles is said to be widespread in London and Paris as well as many parts of countries such as Germany and Turkiye.

In the report published by the World Health Organization, similar data were drawn and air pollution at a danger level to the health of children.

In 2016, it was reported that air pollution in indoor and outdoor places caused respiratory tract infections and caused the death of 543,000 children under five years of age. The organization points out those children in poor countries, especially where coal stoves are widely used, are at risk.
