"Airstrike" explanation from Erbil

Safin, the spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Thursday expressed its concern over the Turkish airstrikes targeting civilian settlements in the Government official website.

The Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Spokesman Safin Dizayi expressed their "concern" after the Turkish war jets targeted civilian settlements, killed four.

Stating that four civilians, who were camping as part of Nowruz celebrations, lost their lives by Turkish airstrikes, Dizayi said; "We are "concern" that the civic settlements in the Kurdistan Region were targeted." Dizayi, however, put part of the blame on the PKK for establishing its military positions in the close vicinity of civilian-populated villages, which attract Turkish airstrikes and risks the lives of civilians. "Our citizens have suffered many times due to this reason," he added.

Dizayi also wanted the PKK to stay away from civilian settlements.

On the other hand, Iraq’s Foreign Ministry condemned Turkiye’s deadly airstrikes on mountainous areas of the Kurdistan Region, while an official said Iraq does not need Ankara’s help dealing with the PKK.

“We are condemning continued attacks and border transgressions by Turkiye,” read a statement from the Foreign Ministry. “We are condemning Turkiye’s airstrikes against villages of Soran district as they have resulted in the martyrdom of civilians."

Four young men were killed in Turkish airstrikes early Thursday morning after staying overnight in the mountains following a Nowruz picnic.
