Animal breeder concern about drought
Livestock breeders worried that the grass has not grown in the marshland due to the lack of rain this year, said the state should boost its support.
Despite approaching the end of the winter season, the livestock in Batman, who said that there was no snowfall and that the rain was low enough, said that this situation formed anxiety about drought.
Stockbreeders said that because of the lack of rainfall, they concern about the grass herbaceous in pastures and that the living situation will seriously affect the livestock industry.
Stockbreeders also stressed that they may have quit animal breeding in the case of serious rain not to fall in the next few months.
Erdinç Yıldırım, an animal breeder who lives in Kozluk Geyikli (Mangik) village, who said that they did not see snow in the winter for the first time this year and that some of the fountains are dry even though they are in the winter season, "There is no famine at this moment it may happen if it goes like this. There is no snow in the winter. I am 30 years old and spent almost 30 years in this village. It is the first time I noticed there is no water in the fountains."
"No grass means no meat and sell of animals"
Cengiz Gündoğdu, who said that no rainfall brought drought, expressed that they had passed through a very distressed period as a breeder. Gündoğdu added, "When there is no grass, there is milk. There is no grass means there is no meat. We can't sell out animals if they are not fat. We will get in a serious trouble if it goes like this."
"We want somebody to support us"
Caner Gündoğdu said that they are waiting for the support of the authorities, saying that they are standing by the abundance of rain and that they could face the risk of quitting their job in the case of no rainfall in the following months.
