Ankara Governorship bans all LGBTI activities
The Governor of Ankara, Turkiye's capital, has announced that all the "LGBTT and LGBTI" activities planned to be organized in the city were banned.
The Governor of Ankara announced that LGBT and LGBTI activities planned to be organized in the city were banned due to "social sensitivities".
Governorship of Ankara made a statement on the information in the form that realization of exhibitions and other events those were announced to be held by the names of LGBTT and LGBTI.
The following statements were made in the explanation:
"Information were obtained from a wide variety of social media and a number of written and visual media organs that LGBTT (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or transvestite) and LGBTI (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex) would have activities containing sensitive films, cinevision, theater, panels, interviews, exhibitions and so on."
“Considering that the content could incite grudges and enmity towards a part of society and the intelligence reports that terror organizations are seeking to attack dissident groups or individuals, it is evaluated that this film screening could be provocative and draw reactions,” the Ankara Governor’s Office said in the statement.
