Anti-Islamic German deputies went to Damascus

A group of MPs from the right-wing populist AfD party, which came to the fore in Germany with anti-Islamic statements, went to Syria.

A group of MPs from the right-wing populist AfD party, which came to the fore in Germany with anti-Islamic and anti-refugee statements, called for the Syrian refugees to return to their homes by meeting with the Chief Mufti in Damascus, who is known to be close to Assad.

The right-wing populist party of Germany, known with its anti-refugee and anti-Islamic statements, took action for the return of Syrian asylum seekers. A group of MPs from AfD who went to Damascus met with names close to the Assad regime.

MPs which came together with the Syrian Parliament Speaker Hammuda Sabbagh also met with the representatives from different religious communities, including Syrian Chief Mufti Ahmet Bedrettin Hassun.

The right-wing populist AfD, which succeeded in entering the parliament on 24 September in Germany, demanded from German Bundestag last November to negotiate with the Syrian regime to take back Syrian asylum seekers.
