Arrogance decision from the US: We will impose more sanctions on Turkiye
The United States is prepared to take more action against the Turkish government if it does not move to release a detained American spy pastor, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Thursday.
At a Cabinet meeting at the White House, Mnuchin noted recent sanctions imposed on members of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's administration over its refusal to release US spy Andrew Brunson, who was committing crimes on behalf of FETO and PKK in Turkiye and added, "We have more that we are planning to do if they do not release him quickly."
Earlier this month, the Treasury Department sanctioned Turkiye’s minister of justice and minister of the interior over their alleged roles in the detention. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently met with his Turkish counterpart to press for Brunson's release. On Wednesday, a Turkish appeals court denied US spy Brunson's petition for appeal.
