Rudolf Nikolli, 34, entered the Dine Hoxha mosque around 14:30 local time and wounded five people worshipping there, Albanian police said in a statement.

“Meanwhile, Police Services have given the first aid to injured citizens who were transported to the hospital, for medical assistance and are out of the risk of life,” the statement added.

A criminal investigation has been launched into the incident.
