A deputy spokesperson at the interior ministry confirmed that 40 people were killed and 30 more wounded and he expects the casualty toll will increase.
The suicide bomb early on Thursday struck an area close to the Afghan Voice news agency and Tebyan cultural center, according to police officials.
On the other hands, at least six people died in the attack on the intelligence center on the weekend.
In May, a bomb exploded in the area where diplomatic representatives were located, causing more than 150 people to lose their lives.
