Blast in Jalalabad kills 22, injured 23 people
At least 22 people lost their lives in a suicide attack carried out in Nangarhar state's capital in Jalalabad in Afghanistan, while injured 23 other people.
At least 22 people lost their lives in a suicide attack in Jalalabad, capital of Nangarhar state in Afghanistan. The blast reportedly wounded 23 other people.
It was stated that the attack was aimed at a protest march held on the border of Pakistan in Jalalabad, the eastern border of Afghanistan with Pakistan.
Local provincial council member Sohrab The total number of casualties and injuries is 45, said local provincial council member Sohrab Qaderi and added that the wounded people were rushed to nearby hospitals. Qaderi said that death toll may increase due to heavy conditions of wounded people.
Minister of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack
On the other hand, Turkiye's Foreign Ministry condemned the deadly attack.
"We learned with sorrow that terrorist attack that targeted a demonstration in Nangarhar province resulted in loss of lives and many injuries," said Minister of Foreign Ministry in a statement.
The ministry wishes Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, speedy recovery to the wounded, and conveyed their condolences to the friendly Government and the brotherly people of Afghanistan.
