Buddhist gangs kill Muslims and mosques set ablaze

In Sri Lanka, it is stated that many Muslims have been martyred and some mosques have been set on fire after the attacks of buddhist gangs.

In Sri Lanka, it was stated that there are Muslims martyred by the buddhist gangs and arson attacks carried out on the mosques.

It is unclear how many Muslim has been martyred so far. It was reported that the buddhists gangs carried out arson attacks which 2 mosques were burned in the east of the country.

Local curfew has been declared after the buddhist mobs carried out arson attacks on the Muslim-owned shops and mosques.

Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon, executive director of the Centre for Human Rights Sri Lanka, condemned the "unfathomable police inefficiency" that he said led to the violence.

Reaction to the attacks from Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On the other hand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the attack on the Muslims in Sri Lanka with a written statement.

"We are concerned by the acts of violence recently perpetrated in various regions of Sri Lanka and targeting the Muslims population and their buildings. We wish mercy upon those who lost their lives in the events, convey our condolences to their bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded. We believe that the Sri Lankan government will take the necessary steps to ensure that different religious and ethnic communities continue to live together in peace across the country," read the statement.
