Çavuşoğlu reacts U.S. over Safe Zone

Speaking on the establishment of a safe zone in Syria, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said: "The proposals by the U.S. do not satisfy us. We got the impression that they wanted to go through a process of procrastination."

After a meeting with Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada Colindres, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu answered questions from reporters about the agenda.

Stating that the proposals by the United States were not satisfactory for Turkey, Çavuşoğlu noted that they got the impression that the U.S. wanted to go through a process of procrastination.

"There are some new ideas among the soldiers, such as joint patrols like the one at the Manbij. The depth of this safe zone, the issue of who will control it and the issue of the complete removal of the PKK/YPG here are the issues that are sensitive to us," he said.

Çavuşoğlu noted that they have not reached an agreement on these three issues.

"We would like to reach an agreement with the proposals of the United States or with our proposals that would satisfy us in the coming period," he said.

"We need to reach an agreement on the safe zone urgently," said Çavuşoğlu, further stressed that Turkey runs out of patience. "Otherwise we will do what we need as Turkey."
