Children are starving in Yemen

At least 5.2 million children in Yemen at risk of famine said Save the Children.

International aid organization "Save the Children" has announced that another million children in Yemen are threatened with hunger.

Increasing food prices and the depreciation of the country's currency after the irregular attacks by Saudis and coalition partners have made it much more difficult for the Yemeni families to supply the necessary food.

As Hudaydah experiences renewed fighting there is a real risk its port – a vital lifeline for goods and aid for 80 percent of Yemen’s population – could be damaged or temporarily closed, reducing the supply of availability of food and fuel as well as driving up prices even further. This would put the lives of hundreds of thousands of children in immediate danger while pushing millions more into famine.

The United Nations has warned that failure to keep food, fuel, and aid flowing into Yemen, particularly through Hodeidah, could result in one of the worst hunger crises in living history.

The Saudis' attack on the port city of Hudaydah, which is the gateway to the country, finally leads to concerns about new crises in food.

"More than 36 thousand children may die by the end of 2018"

According to the data from Save the Children, 5.2 million children are under the threat of hunger.

An additional one million severely food insecure children in Yemen risk falling into famine as families struggle to afford basic food and transport to health facilities for treatment. This brings the total number of children in Yemen at risk of famine to 5.2 million. Already, more than two-thirds (64.5 percent) of Yemen’s population do not know where their next meal is coming from.

According to the report announced by Save The Children, more than 36,000 children may die by the end of 2018.
