Constitutional arrangements to meet Kurds' demands should be put on the agenda

HUDA PAR Chairman Mehmet Yavuz emphasized that the state should urgently put the constitutional arrangement on the agenda that will meet the language and identity demands of the Kurdish people.

HUDA PAR Chairman Mehmet Yavuz spoke on June 24 general election, what kind of a policy they will follow during the March 9 local elections, the reflection of AK Party-MHP alliance, and especially the Kurdish issue.

"Not solving the Kurdish issue at the point of justice and fairness cause to feed the violence and infecting the imperialist centers of power in this matter, Yavuz said and called the state to arrange a constitutional amendment put on agenda in order to meet the demands of Kurdish people.

Stating that their party has experienced the general election throughout the country for the first time which was held on June 24, Yavuz added that their party has won about 210,000 votes from all segments, which they see as a success but the votes they received were under their expectations.

"We received votes from all segments"

"We aimed to get around 300 thousand votes across the country in the June 24 election," said Yavuz. Indicating that they have received about 210,000 votes, including with the votes cast for independent candidates in Diyarbakır and Batman provinces, Yavuz added that they see as a success to receive votes from all over the country but still the votes they received were under their expectations.

"There is a consensus on entering the 2019 local elections as a party"

Yavuz said that they agreed to enter as a party for the local elections to be held in March 2019, "Our General Administrative Board, who they conveyed in Elazığ province on July 27-28, had agreed to enter local election as a party. We already had preparations for it and it is still going on. We will share relevant information with candidate detection and selection procedures from time to time with the public through our valuable press members."

"As we did not close our door to alliances, we will still do not close it"

Regarding the alliances, Yavuz stated that they continued their principle positions in the June 24 elections, saying: "We continue our principled position regarding the alliance's June 24 elections. Alliances are the subjects of the election process. We will not close the alliance proposals in this direction again as we did not close our doors. We evaluate the coming proposals in our committees without discrimination of parties. Before the June 24 elections came to the agenda, we had preparations and intensive work for the 2019 local elections."

"The Kurdish issue has gained a global dimension"

Yavuz evaluates the continuation of AK Party and MHP alliances and the Kurdish issue, "Both the heads of the AK Party and the MHP mentioned the alliance of both parties will be continued. The view of the MHP on the Kurdish issue is in line with the official ideology, is in the view of the state. The legitimate and humanitarian demands of the Kurdish people, especially against the violence, especially the demand on language and identity, are unfortunately being evaluated taken into the terror brackets and the prohibitionist understanding is persistently maintained. The AK Party's approach to the issue began to overlap with this view. In particular, the statist and nationalist language of Mr. Erdogan, which has become more visible in recent times, clearly reveals this. On the other hand, the Kurdish issue, which has gained a global dimension by transcending locality and regionalism, causes more serious consequences unless it is resolved in terms of the countries of the region that continue to approach the issue in terms of rejection and denial. We have expectations and desires that some steps can be taken at the point of bringing constitutional assurance to the steps taken in social life (TRT KURDİ, removal of nationalist oath/pledge, the opening of Kurdish courses, etc.). I hope that we will continue to fulfill our task of non-parliamentary opposition in the best possible way with the possibilities we have as HUDA PAR to conclude this enduring political process with a final and lasting solution."
