Decision in the case of Cumhuriyet Newspaper
The decision on the case of the executives and writers of Cumhuriyet Newspaper was announced.
In the case of Cumhuriyet Newspaper, the court ruled. When the Chief Executive Officer Akın Atalay was decided to be evicted, it was decided that judicial control should be applied to all of the defendants who were convicted.
Chief Executive Officer Akın Atalay was sentenced to 7 years, 13 months and 15 days imprisonment on charges of "not a member but helping the terrorist organization", then the court decided him to be released in the case where the writers and administrators of Cumhuriyet Newspaper were tried.
Executive editor Murat Sabuncu and Ahmet Şık have sentenced to 7 years and 6 months imprisonment for the same crime.
Orhan Erinç and Hikmet Cetinkaya were sentenced to 6 years 3 months, Kadri Gürsel 2 years 6 months, Güray Tekin Öz and Hacı Musa Kart were sentenced to 3 years 9 months imprisonment on charges of "not a member but helping the terrorist organization".
The court decided to separate the file of Can Dündar and İlhan Tanır. A ban on leaving the country for all journalists, writers, and administrators of the newspaper, and judicial control decision were taken.
