Tension rises day by day in Basra, in southern Iraq. The protestors who fired the governorship building the other night set fire to the municipal building yesterday evening.

In Basra there are resurgent demonstrations against public services, unemployment and corruption.

A group of protesters on the street crossed the circle of security forces and gathered in front of the Basra Municipal building last night. The demonstrators soon set fire to the public building.

The night before, a group of demonstrators in Basra burned the governorship building of Basra.

It has been learned that the demonstrators who have protested against electricity shortages, inability to find healthy drinking water, corruption, and public services have closed the main road connecting the Basra to the city of İmar.

The previous day, after the incidents in which 7 demonstrators were killed and more than 60 people were injured, the Commander of the Basra Operations declared the curfew in the city.
