Urmia Lake, known as the world's second largest salt lake in Iran, downed to 23 square kilometers in a year due to drought.

In Iran's Western Azerbaijan province, Urmia Lake, also known as the second largest salt lake in the world, has been reduced by 23 square kilometers per year due to the drought.

Expressing that the drought caused huge water loss in the lake last year, the authorities said that the depth of the lake is 2 centimeters less than the last year.

Urmia Lake, known as the second largest salt lake in the world, had a surface area of ​​5,200 square km before the drought. The deepest point was about 16 meters, and a large part of the lake was dried.
