Erdoğan: Turkey’s future lies in technology and innovation
"We have proven ourselves in defense industry. Now, it is the turn of other realms of production," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his speech at the inauguration of the second phase of Istanbul Technopark.
Pointing to Turkey’s strong infrastructure for research with its 207 universities, 1,234 R&D centers, 365 design centers and 85 technology development zones, Erdoğan noted that this system, whereby academic and technical knowledge generates economic value, yields outputs that draw Turkey closer to its goals.
"We will make Turkey a center of global investment"
Underlining that Istanbul Technopark, which offers a high-standard infrastructure including workshops, laboratories and social facilities, attracts foreign enterprises as well; President Erdoğan noted that Turkey’s competitive edge rises to the extent that its research and development activities generate economic value.
President Erdoğan continued: "Turkey’s future lies in technology and innovation. We have proven ourselves in defense industry. Now, it is the turn of other realms of production. This, I believe, we will achieve by a well-informed strategy. Our achievements regarding national income and export as well as the successful indicators in economic and social development further encourage us. By adding new ones to these achievements, we will make Turkey a center of global investment through an all-out mobilization."
