Evacuation continues in Eastern Ghouta

In Syria, on the basis of the agreements made, evacuations continue from Eastern Ghouta, which is under the control of opposition groups.

While the Syrian regime has increased the number of regions controlled in the Eastern Ghouta, outside of the capital city of Damascus, the evacuation of opposition groups continues under the agreement.

Thousands of people from the towns of Arbin and Zamalka in the Eastern Ghouta region took refuge in the cities of Idlib and Aleppo. The number of people evacuated over the weekend exceeded 6,000. Syrian official press releases indicate that 107 thousand civilians have left the city until now.

Since February 18, the Syrian regime has launched intensive air and land attacks on Eastern Ghouta, controlled by opponents, and seized 90 percent of the region.

Following the 30-day ceasefire of the United Nations Security Council, the Russian-backed Syrian regime continued to attack air in Eastern Ghouta.

The London-based Syrian Human Rights Observatory says 1600 civilians have lost their lives until now. The Syrian regime has begun to encompass settlements in Eastern Ghouta since 2012.
