First lesson bell rings in schools
After three months of summer vacation, the first lesson bell ranged to about 18 million students studying at primary, secondary and high school level in Turkiye.
The first period of the academic year 2018-2019 began as of Monday. The first semester of the academic year will end on 18 January 2019. The second semester will start on February 4 and the last lesson's bell will ring on 14 June.
After the summer holiday, about 18 million students and more than one million teachers started the new school year after the first lesson's bell ranged on Monday early.
Distribution of textbooks
Of the 141 million textbooks to be distributed free to the students by the Ministry of National Education, 125 million books were distributed to provinces and schools.
In the 2018-2019 academic year, 125 million 722 thousand 460 textbooks were handed out to provinces and schools.
