Heartbreaking life stories of women from East Turkestan
The women of East Turkestan who suffer under the persecution of Communist China and face the extinction, want the problems experienced in the country to be heard in the world public.
Nobody is able to hear their silent screams in spite of all the persecution in East Turkistan, where tens of thousands of international law are ignored, tens of thousands of people struggle for life in prisons and camps.
The assimilation policies made after China invaded the country resulted in nuclear trials, population transfer, disrupting the ecological balance, limiting or even destroying people's freedom of religion and belief and where children were taken forcibly to be raised as a communist. The oppressed geography expects a helping hand to reach them from the Islamic countries.
Women from Eastern Turkestan, whose husbands and relatives are in the prisons and have to work alone to afford school expenses of their children, want the world public to hear about the persecution in their country.
East Turkestan, one of the most oppressed regions of the Ummah and almost 35 million people live in an open-air prison, struggles to live together with a thousand tribulations under Communist Chinese oppression. The women of Eastern Turkestan, whose husbands are in Chinese Dungeons and have not heard from them for a long time, told ILKHA about their troubles.
"We don't know if our relatives are alive or dead"
Bahar Gül Amat, one of the East Turkestan woman lives in Turkiye said she took refuge in Egypt first with her children due to difficulties experienced in East Turkestan. She then came to Turkiye after the coup in Egypt, which they were asked to be taken back to China with the joint decision of China and Egypt.
"After the coup, China and Egypt decided to take us back to China. Therefore, many Uighurs had to flee to other countries. Those who couldn’t flee, they were captured and taken back to China."
Saying that they haven’t heard of them sent back to China since from, Amat said, "I haven’t heard from my relatives since I got here."
Amat expressed that she had heard that one of her brothers was taken to the prison one year ago and her 30-year-old son was taken to a camp but she does not know whether they are alive or dead.
"Chinese government does unimagined persecutions to the Uighurs"
Saying that their aim is to take care of their brothers and sisters there [East Turkestan] as best they can and to inform the world of what happened there, Amat continued as follows:
"The Chinese are doing unimagined persecution to the Uighurs. However, China wants to cover up this oppression and destroy us. China wants to convince everyone in the world that there is no persecution. Only God knows what kind of persecution we experience there. Our sole purpose is to take care of our brothers and sisters there and to inform the world about the persecution living there."
Amat said that China has forbidden their writing and language while forcing them to eat pig meat. "They marry our girls to Chinese men. They force us to live with a Chinese man in our own house. No one dares to speak up about this situation."
"Those who, freed from the camps die after a while"
Kamber Nisa Raşit, who could not hear from her husband for 1,5 years, expressed her troubles as follows;
"I went to Egypt with my 4 children and my husband. My husband was staying in Egypt for a month and was going back to East Turkestan. They were pressuring on him to bring his family. The last time he went, they arrested him and put him in jail and I haven’t heard from him from since."
"We came to Turkiye after my husband was arrested there. I live with my four children here. I heard that 10 of my relatives were arrested and put in jail."
"They sentenced my nephew to 10 years imprisonment for pictures in his phone that reminds Islam. They arrested many more with these kinds of reasons."
Nisa Raşit emphasized that people who were freed from camps die after a while. "No one knows what kind of persecution those people are being exposed and what the Chinese are doing to those inmates in camps."
"I haven't heard from my parent for 2 years"
Melikezad Osman, who came to Turkiye 4 years ago with her mother and father, said the main purpose of coming to Turkiye is continuing their education in Turkiye. Osman added that it has been two years she hasn’t heard from her mother and father.
"My mother and father were older people, so they preferred to stay in their home country instead of staying here. On holidays, they would come to Turkiye and stay for 1 month," said Osman.
Saying that her mother had diabetes, Osman continued that her mother was taken to hospital after her illness got heavy. "One morning, the Chinese police came to the hospital and took my father away saying, "We have questions to ask. My mother didn't tell us about the situation for a few days, so we wouldn't worry, and then she called us online. We were trying to console her by saying, 'He is an old man, and he has no crimes so they will release him.'"
"They [China] want to hide their persecution"
Osman continued that after three months they couldn’t hear from her father, her mother was going to the police and ask about the fate of her elderly husband and was told that she cannot ask any question about her husband!
"After a while, a group of 10 armed soldiers went searching for my mother's house, where she lived on her own. Then they asked that my mother should not even speak to anyone without permission through the phone, and let them know everything."
"After 4 months passed since my father was taken, they phoned mother and told her 'your husband is in jail and that she can hire a lawyer if she wants.'"
Expressing that she later learned that the police arrested her father for the money he sent to his children in Turkiye for their education, Osman said, "After a while, we lost contact with my mother. I can't contact them by phone or by the internet. I don't know how the situation of my mother for two years, and don’t know whether my father was released or not."
Osman told about her older sister with four children. Saying that her 2 children were taken from her due to Chinese law, which bans couples more 2 children.
"Her 2 children were forcibly taken from her. They took her children to camp to raise them in accordance with their mentality. The only thing we can is only praying, and reveal the persecution of China to the world," she added.
Rozan Nisa Tarup, another victim who lives in Turkiye for 5 years with her 7 children, expressed the difficulties they have been through as follows;
"My husband was coming to Turkiye to see us and staying here for 15-20 days. We cannot hear from him since the 4th month of 2017. I heard from his friends that my husband was arrested."
"According to the news I learned from my sister-in-law, police arrested my husband, his brothers, and his sisters together. Since then, I can't hear from him."
"I live with my mother-in-law and with my 7 children. My mother in law is ill and elder and I try to afford school expenses of my 7 children by working the only one in this family."
Saying that the Chinese say they didn't arrest anyone, Nisa Tarup asks, "But why then we cannot get any news from our relatives? My children always ask where their father is. They cry by saying they missed him so much. I can say nothing to them. Children sometimes ask 'Is he dead?' and I tell them I hope he will come back."
