HUDA PAR makes statement on Sochi summit, demonstrations in Iraq and Lebanon
HUDA PAR made a statement about the Sochi summit between Turkey and Russia and the protests in Iraq and Lebanon.
“The agreement should not affect the humanitarian policies Turkey has pursued since the beginning of the Syrian civil war the Syrian civil war, " said HUDA PAR headquarters.
Stating that the agreement between Turkey and Russia is important for ending the conflict in the region or ensuring a relatively calm situation, HUDA PAR warned the agreement should not affect the humanitarian policies Turkey has pursued since the beginning of the Syrian civil war.
Referring to the demonstrations in Iraq and Lebanon, HUDA PAR pointed out that the conflicts between the countries of the region pose the danger of escalating sectarian, ethnic and ideological tensions, as in Syria and Yemen, and turning Iraq and Lebanon into a proxy war field.
Sochi Summit
Noting that Sochi summit is an important step, HUDA PAR said: "It is important for Turkey and Russia to agree on the safe zone, the territorial integrity of Syria and the support of the constitutional committee activities, to end the conflict in the region or to ensure a relatively calm situation. However, the fact that the course of the Syrian Civil War, which has been going on for 8 years and has escalated tensions in the region, the return of refugees and regional security is under the initiative of imperialist countries such as Russia and the United States is a threat that should not be overlooked for the countries of the region. The civil war that has driven the region into social, political and economic instability must be resolved through the alliance and initiative of the countries of the region."
Referring to some of the articles in the agreement, HUDA PAR said:" “The safe zone clause in the agreement is important for the Prevention of civilian casualties. However, the process should be prevented from turning into a process of demographic change in the region. Otherwise the current problems will run deeper. The main way to achieve lasting peace in Syria is to create a new constitution and governing mechanism, in which all sections are included. The countries of the region should support the work of the Constitutional Committee unconditionally and contribute to the solution accordingly. The article in the Sochi Covenant on the voluntary and safe return of refugees is positive in terms of content. But allegations of forced refugees and racist campaigns against refugees must be investigated urgently.
Noting that the Sochi accord should not affect its humanitarian policies, HUDA PAR said:" Turkey should not support Russia's steps to deepen the war, which has taken an aggressive stance against the 3 million civilians living there, in Idlib, which was previously declared a non-conflict zone.
Protests in Iraq and Lebanon
Pointing out that the demonstrations in Iraq, which began in September, have reached a dangerous level, HUDA PAR said: " Anti-corruption protests that started in Iraq and Lebanon demanding political reform have reached a dangerous level. Iraq, where more than 200 people have died since early September, is moving toward a sectarian conflict. Although the insurgency in countries governed by a deformed political system, wrong economic steps and imported policies is based on justifiable demands, sectarian and religious diversity makes it easier to provoke the process and plunge it into civil war.
"The conflict between the countries of the region is in danger of becoming a proxy war.”
Referring to the demonstrations in Lebanon, HUDA PAR said: "Lebanon, which experienced civil war 44 years ago and lost over 200 thousand lives; Iraq, where there was no peace and stability after the US invasion, are the regions that lie on sensitive fault lines such as religion and sect. For this reason, the organization and leaders leading the protests should make efforts to prevent the demonstrations from being provoked. Violence will deepen confusion and thus instability by overshadowing justifiable demands. At the same time, as in Syria and Yemen, the conflict between the countries of the region risks escalating sectarian, ethnic and ideological tensions and turning Iraq and Lebanon into a proxy war fields. The political authorities must act immediately and carry out the necessary reforms in politics and economy independent of the imperialist countries.
