Upon a question regarding the migrant problem in Turkey, Yapıcıoğlu said that keeping millions of migrants in camps or living in neighborhoods not only burdens the country's economy but also contributes positively to the country's economy.

Stating that some business sectors complain about not being able to find anyone to employ from Turkish nationals, Yapıcıoğlu said that people who have received a certain education do not do every job or do not work because of the low wages. Yapıcıoğlu said that for this reason, it is frequently mentioned that Syrians or Afghans fill the gap in some areas and contribute.

“We have a responsibility to help immigrants regardless of the economic burden”

Yapıcıoğlu said, “It is very natural and humane for people to leave their country in a place where there is no security of life and property, and where all kinds of dignity and honor of people are violated. If people in difficult situations came to you and took shelter in you, and if the borders between you and them were drawn a hundred years ago by the same enemy, if the people living on both sides are relatives of each other, we cannot leave the people coming from there to their own matters, we cannot leave them alone with their own problems. We think we have a responsibility to help them no matter what the economic burden is.”

“The Syrian issue can be resolved through armed conflict”

Yapıcıoğlu said that the conditions in Turkey should be suitable for refugees to go back to their countries and added: “We have consistently said since the beginning of the Syrian war; the issue in Syria is not an issue that can be resolved with armed conflict. Eventually, the parties will sit around a table and resolve this issue through political negotiations. In this regard, a great responsibility and burden fall on neighboring countries, especially Iran, which is influential on the regime, and Turkey, which speaks to some of the dissidents there.”

Yapıcıoğlu said: “Whatever happens, the problems that arise in Islamic lands should never be referred to the imperialists. Certainly, Islamic countries should solve this problem by talking among themselves and through negotiations. After this problem is resolved, a way will be opened for the return of people who had to migrate from Syria.”
