HÜDA PAR: Turkey must back Uighur Muslims
HÜDA PAR Deputy Chairman Şehzade Demir urged the Turkish government to protect Uighur Muslims, who are being persecuted by the Chinese regime.
Emphasizing that China is continuing to exert state terrorism against Uighur Muslims by assimilating children, confiscating homes and workplaces, and obstructing the rights of worship and education, Demir said that the insensitivity of Islamic countries, especially Turkey had encouraged the Chinese government.
“Recently, new barriers have been built against Uighurs seeking asylum in Turkey. The right of peaceful demonstrations of Uyghur Muslims, who live in Turkey and cannot receive any news from their families, has been violated in front of Chinese diplomatic missions,” Demir stated. “If the agreement between Turkey and China, which allows the extradition of Uyghurs, comes into force, it will pave the way for many human rights violations.”
Demir continued his remarks as follows: “It is our most fundamental principle that oppressed peoples' basic human rights and freedom of belief should be superior to all political, economic, and conjectural interests. It is regrettable that the persecution and assimilations suffered by Uighur Muslims are ignored by Islamic countries due to their conjunctural policies.”
Demir also called on the Islamic countries, especially Turkey, to take action to play a deterrent role in this period when the persecution of Uighur Muslims is increasing.
“Encouraged by the silence of Muslims, China takes its oppression further,” Demir concluded.
