Interpol chief resigns
Interpol announced on Sunday that it had received the resignation of its missing chief Meng Hongwei.
"Today, Sunday 7 October, the Interpol General Secretariat in Lyon, France received the resignation of Mr. Meng Hongwei as President of INTERPOL with immediate effect," announced International Police Service [Interpol] in a statement.
Head of the International Police Service (INTERPOL) Meng Hongwei, who left France for a visit to China and missing for days, was reportedly detained in China for alleged violations of the law.
In a statement from the Chinese authorities, Hongwei was detained on suspicion of a violation of the law, within the scope of the investigation initiated by the National Oversight Commission, but had not shared any information on the scope of the crime.
