Iran reports 217 new deaths from coronavirus
Iran has reported 217 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 14,405, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Monday.
After 2,414 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 271,606 in the country.
There are at least 3,583 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 276,202 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 2,175,217 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 609,511 with 14,668,291 cases and more than, 8,750,906 recoveries.
