Islamic world wastes its energy with internal conflicts
"Conflicts, tensions, lack of education, poverty and foreign dependency are sought to be made, so to speak, the faith of our region. Today we witness an Islamic world that wastes its energy with internal conflicts," President Erdoğan said.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated in the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye [TÜBİTAK] and Turkish Academy of Sciences [TÜBA] Awards Ceremony held at Beştepe People’s Convention and Culture Center in Ankara.
Delivering a speech at the ceremony, President Erdoğan said it is not possible for development attempts devoid of science and technology to achieve success, and that it will be a raw dream for states that do not support their men of science, culture, and arts to initiate the breakthrough they seek.
"Islamic world wastes its energy with internal conflicts"
Also touching upon the difficulties the Islamic geography suffers, President Erdoğan said that its resources are exploited and borders are redrawn according to oil, gold and interest calculations.
Underscoring that in this new system, Muslims are not accorded the right to have a say for their own future as well as for common issues of humanity.
"It is the outcome of this crookedness that the Islamic world of 1.7 billion people does not have even a single permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council. That is why I say, ‘the World is bigger than five’," President Erdoğan noted.
"Conflicts, tensions, lack of education, poverty and foreign dependency are sought to be made, so to speak, the faith of our region. Those who have built this system have unfortunately succeeded to a great extent. Today we witness an Islamic world that wastes its energy with internal conflicts rather than spending it on scientific, academic and cultural studies," he said.
"When we look at our environs, we come across with geography that struggles with issues in many areas, from income distribution, justice, and diplomacy to democracy, economy, rights, and freedoms."
President Erdoğan further stressed that foreign dependency in technology, architecture, industry, diplomacy, and economy is the most painful reality of today’s Islamic world, and added: "We are experiencing, so to speak, learned helplessness. We wholeheartedly believe this situation will change."
