Doctors announced Tuesday the brain death for Fatima Kalkan, the grandmother of Ramazan Kalkan. After losing his mother at a young age, Ramazan Kalkan, who is in prison for 17 years due to his Islamic services, was raised by his grandma.

After having a heart attack in Diyarbakır, the grandmother was hospitalized, the heart valve was changed. The grandmother, who went to Izmir to live with her son, had another heart attack and was taken to Izmir Torbalı State Hospital. Despite all the interventions, doctors declared the brain death of grandma Fatma.

The Grandmothers of Ramazan Kalkan waited years with longing for her grandson to come home. The grandma, who was waiting for the release of her grandson Ramazan Kalkan, has lost the battle over life.

As like Fatma Kalkan, there are a lot of mothers and fathers passing away without meeting their sons or grandsons who have been locked behind of barred doors due to their Islamic sensitiveness.
