Mosque construction for Sunni Muslims in Tehran is on the agenda

Tehran Metropolitan Council member Huccet Nezeri announced Sunday that it is necessary to build a mosque where Sunnis Muslims could perform pray.

Tehran Metropolitan Council member Huccet Nezeri said on Sunday at the city council meeting that it is necessary to build a mosque where Sunni Muslims could perform pray.  

According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, one of the wishes of the Sunni community in Tehran is that a mosque construction for Sunni Muslims to perform prayer, Nezeri stated.

Stating that the Sunnis community had less than a million inhabitants in the past years, so the needs were not so much attention, but today this need is seen said Nezeri.

Adding that there is no need to wait in the streets for hours to perform the religious prayers, Nezeri said that people belonging to divine religions, officially recognized according to the 12th and 13th articles of the Constitution.

There are nearly 40 rented-houses mosques in Tehran, 11 of which are in the administration of Iranian Kurdish Muslims, but there is no officially built mosque in the city. (ILKHA)
