Muslim call to prayer "Adhan" to be read broadcasts in New Zealand this Friday
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Wednesday said the Muslim call to prayer "Adhan" will be broadcast nationally this Friday to show support to the Muslims community.
Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that adhan will be read broadcast nationally in TV and radio stations in the country on Friday to show support to the Muslim community after the crusade terror attack on two mosques in New Zeland.
Ardern said that news a family of refugees from Syria was affected by the terrorist attack in Christchurch was gutting. "Among New Zealanders on social media, one of the images and accompanying words that have spread the most has been that this was their home and they should have been safe here."
Ardern confirmed that the Adhan, the traditional call to prayer, would be broadcast nationally on Friday, along with a two-minute-silence in honor of the victims.
"There is a desire to show support to the Muslim community as they return to mosques, particularly on Friday," Arden told reporters.
"To acknowledge this there will be a two minutes' silence on the same day. We will also broadcast nationally, via TV and Radio station, the Adhan," she added.
"I do want to acknowledge, we had a delegation from the Turkish government arrived very soon after they have brought a message of solidarity to New Zealand and those who have been affected by this terrorist attack."
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern went on saying that New Zealand was working with national and international agencies to ensure retaliatory threats and copycats were follow up on. "In New Zealand, this is unprecedented for us so we don't have experience with terrorist acts and this is what this was, but there is guidance our counterparts can give."
Ardern said that the government is planning a memorial service for the Christchurch martyrs, adding that it wants to involve the rest of New Zealand too.
