North Korea launches 2 ballistic missiles into waters off east coast: Japan Defense Ministry
North Korea launched two ballistic missiles into waters off its east coast on Wednesday, Japanese Defense Ministry said.
The missiles did not enter Japanese territory, Japan's Defense Ministry said, adding that they landed outside Japan's exclusive economic zone.
Japan’s Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga condemned the missile launch as simply outrageous, saying that it was a threat to the peace and security of the region.
On Saturday, North Korea carried out tests of a new long-range cruise missile, announced to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the state news agency of North Korea.
The missiles flew for 1,500 kilometers and successfully hit their target in North Korea's waters, and were meant for a "strategic role" according to the news agency, which analyst Ankit Panda stated was a common euphemism for a missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
