The number of registered members of public libraries increased by 12.2% in 2020 compared to 2019 and reached 4 million 437 thousand 954. The number of beneficiaries of these libraries decreased by 58.8% compared to the previous year and became 12 million 962 thousand 119. The number of other materials in public libraries decreased by 2.5% in 2020 compared to 2019.

The number of libraries in universities decreased by 0.7%

There are libraries in 197 universities, 125 of which are state universities and 72 are foundation universities. The number of libraries decreased by 0.7% in 2020 compared to 2019 and became 606. The number of books in university libraries increased by 3.4% in 2020 compared to 2019 and reached 18 million 553 thousand 121. The number of e-books decreased by 1.0% in 2020 compared to 2019, became 97 million 340 thousand 35 in 2020.

Number of formal and non-formal education libraries increased by 5.0%

The number of formal and non-formal education libraries, including public school, private school and private course libraries, increased by 5.0% in 2020 compared to 2019 and reached 32 thousand 158. The number of books in formal and non-formal education libraries increased by 7.6% in 2020 compared to 2019 and reached 34 million 454 thousand 621.
