Turkstat announced the results of the life satisfaction survey in 2018. According to this, the proportion of individuals who mentioned they are happy was 58 percent in 2017 and 53.4 percent in 2018.

While 58% of individuals mentioned that they were happy in 2017, the proportion was 53.4% in 2018. The proportion of individuals who mentioned that they were unhappy increased from 11.1% to 12.1%.While the proportion of happiness for males was 53.6% in 2017 it decreased to 49.6% in 2018, the proportion of happiness for females decreased to 57% from 62.4%.When the level of happiness was analyzed by age groups, the highest level of happiness was at 65 and over age group with 66.1% in 2017 and 61.2% in 2018. The lowest level of happiness was seen at 45-54 age group with 53.1% in 2017 and 47.8% in 2018.

Married females were happier than married males

It was seen that married individuals were happier than unmarried individuals were. While the proportion of married individuals who mentioned that they were happy was 56.3%, the proportion was 46.7% for unmarried ones in 2018. When the level of happiness of married individuals was analyzed by sex, it was seen that 51.6% of married males and 60.7% of married females were happy.

People who did not complete school have a higher level of happiness

When the level of happiness was analyzed by the level of education, it was seen that the highest level of happiness was seen at individuals who did not a complete school with 59%. It was followed by individuals who were higher education graduates with 53.9%, primary education or junior high school graduates with 52.6%, primary school graduates with 52.3%, high school and equivalent graduates with 51.3%, respectively.

Families were the ones that made individuals happiest

While the proportion of individuals who mentioned that their families made them happiest was 74.2%; it was followed by children with 12.9%, spouse with 3.6%, themselves with 3.3%, parents with 2.7% and grandchildren with 1.8%, respectively.

Health was the first source of happiness

While the proportion of individuals who mentioned that their health made them happiest was 69%; it was followed by love with 15.5%, success with 8.8%, money with 4.2% and the job with 2.2%, respectively.

The highest level of satisfaction was seen in public security services with 75.2%

 In 2018, while the highest satisfaction level was realized in the public security services with 75.2%, it was followed by transportation services with 74.8%, health services with 70.4%, Social Security Institution services with 63.1%, education services with 56.7% and judicial services with 56.3%, respectively.

72.1% of the individuals stated that they were hopeful about their own future

The proportion of individuals who were hopeful about their own future was 72.1% in 2018. While the proportion of males who were hopeful about their own future was 71.1% in 2018, this proportion for females was 73%.
