Portugal’s President tests positive for COVID-19
Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa tested positive for COVID-19, a statement from the country's Presidency announced late Monday.
Rebelo de Sousa has so far shown no symptoms, according to the statement.
“He stayed and will remain in prophylactic isolation in the residential area, awaiting the epidemiological inquiry,” the statement said.
As of 11 January 2021, a total of 489,293 confirmed coronavirus cases, 372,056 recoveries, and 7,925 deaths have been reported in the country.
