Reactionary decision on burka and veil in Denmark
Denmark took a reactionary decision to ban the burqa and the veil in the public space.
Denmark is also beginning to apply the burqa and veil law in public places, which has been applying in some European countries.
The decision that attracted the greatest reaction of Muslims was accepted by MPs in the Danish Parliament, with 75 'yes' against 30 'rejection' votes. Some 74 deputies voted abstention.
Those who violate the law that will go into effect as of August 1 will pay 1000 Danish kronor (156 dollars).
In Denmark, of which the population is 5.7 million, Muslims form about 7% of the population.
It is forbidden in France, Austria, Belgium, and Turkiye for women in the veil to work in some public areas. Legislative laws continue in the Netherlands, but local bans are also being implemented in other countries, including Denmark, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland.
