While 75 percent of those killed in the accident were men, 90 percent were faults of drivers in fatal injuries.

In the road network of Turkey, 1 million 229 thousand 364 traffic accidents occurred in total during the year 2018.

Among all those accidents 1 million 42 thousand 832 accidents were with material loss and 186 thousand 532 were with death or injury.

For the accidents involving death or injury, 75% of them occurred in the inhabited area and 25% occurred in the uninhabited area.As a result of 186 thousand 532 accidents involving death or injury occurred in Turkey during the year 2018, 3 thousand 368 people were killed at the accident scene and 3 thousand 307 people who were injured at a traffic accident and sent to health facilities died within 30 days after the accident due to related accident and its impacts.

46.9% of deaths and 67.1% of injuries occurred at inhabited area whereas 53.1% of deaths and 32.9% of injuries occurred in the uninhabited area.

Among the people killed in the accidents occurred in the road network of Turkey during the year 2018, 42.9% of them were drivers, 34.9% were passengers and 22.2% were pedestrians.

Concerning the gender breakdown of people killed, 75.9% of them were men, 24.1% were women; whereas for the people injured 67.8% of them were men, and 32.2% were women.

Looking at the 217,898 total faults causing accidents involving death or injury in Turkey during the year 2018, it was observed that 89.5% of faults were driver faults, 8.4% were pedestrian faults, 0.9% were passenger faults, 0.6% were vehicle faults and 0.6% were road faults.

In Turkey, the distribution of 300 thousand 704-road motor vehicles involved in accidents with death or injury was cars 53.2%, 15.5% motorcycles, small trucks 15.3%, minibusses 3%, trucks 2.5%, tractor truck 2.3%, buses 2.2%, tractors 1.1% and the other vehicles 4.9% during year 2018.

In Turkey by the year 2018 looking at the monthly distribution of 186 thousand 532 accidents involving death or injury, accidents most frequently occurred in July with 10.9% share whereas accidents had least frequently occurred in February with 6% share.

Regarding the distribution among the days of the week, accidents involving death or injury most frequently occurred on Saturdays with a 14.8% share and least frequently on Tuesdays with a 13.7% share.

Concerning the 186,532 accidents involving death or injury occurred in the road network of Turkey, 67.7% of accidents occurred at day, 29.7% occurred at night and 2.6% occurred at twilight.
