"15 July coup to preserve Turkiye's secular constitution"

John Bolton, who was appointed the US President Trump's National Security Advisor, described the July 15 coup attempt as an "actions of a group within the military to protect Turkiye's secular constitution."

It was turned out that John Bolton, appointed by Trump as the US President's National Security Advisor, accused Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as "Islamizing" Turkiye, said on July 15 night of the coup attempt in his statements.

Bolton commented on the events happened in Turkiye on July 15 coup attempt night in his interview with FoxNews channel reportedly said that the coup attempt was an "act of a military group to protect the secular constitution of Turkiye."

Stating "Turkiye's constitution gave the mission to the military to protect the secular nature of the state," Bolton claimed that President Erdoğan is doing his best to subvert the secular structure of the country."

"If the coup succeeds, the efforts of Erdoğan, who is leading the country towards the Islamization, who tries to bring the Ottoman caliphate back wanting to be the dominant power in the Middle East will again be prevented. But if Erdoğan wins then the Islamization process will continue at an accelerated pace," said Bolton.

The question "whether the United States is in favor of the traditionally elected governments," Bolton answered; "the constitution in question here."
