300 mortar shells fired at Mardin, Turkish minister says

Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, who was in Nusaybin, district of Mardin, following PKK/YPG attacks on the city, said that close to 300 mortar shells were fired at Mardin.

Minister Soylu first visited the site of mortar and rocket attacks by the PKK/YPG. Minister Soylu, who met with citizens here, expressed condolences for those who lost their lives in mortals shelling.

"We're facing a terrorist organization," said Minister Soylu, adding that mortar shelling comes from Syrian Qamishlo city near the Turkish border.

"They do not care about anything. But we have taken all the necessary precautions. Nearly 300 mortar shells were fired at Mardin," Soylu noted.

Soylu recalled that 11 civilians killed in Nusaybin. "They're carrying out attacks from children's parks, hospitals.

Signaling a Turkish operation towards Qamislo, Soylu expressed that they need to be patient. "We want to express that we will not tolerate terrorism at any point in our geography, we have a plan and we are moving forward within that plan."
