8 rescue crews swept to death by an avalanche in eastern Turkey

A snow avalanche hit rescue crews, who were dispatched to the region to recover two people buried following an earlier avalanche, killing 8 people in Bahçesaray district of Van province, eastern Turkey on Wednesday.

"The Avalanche also fell on AFAD, UMKE and other teams searching for those trapped under the Avalanche. Rescue effort initiated," Van Governor Mehmet Emin Bilmez said.

The rescued people were taken to the hospitals, he added.

On Tuesday, five people are dead, following an avalanche in Bahçesaray.
