A shepherd killed in an explosion in southeastern Turkey

An IED explosion killed a shepherd in the Silopi district of Turkey’s southeastern Şırnak province on Thursday.

Cemil Kaçar, age 50, a shepherd, died after an explosive device went off in the Hesena village of the Silopi district.

There is no information on whether the explosion was caused by a newly planted device or a remnant from previous operations in the region.

The body of the victim was sent to the hospital for post mortem examination.
