About 700 tons of hazelnuts wasted due to flood

Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli stated that about 700 tons of hazelnuts were damaged in the flood disaster in Ordu, in the Black Sea province of Turkiye.

Bekir Pakdemirli, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, who is in the statements about the flood disaster in Ordu, said that he had interviewed 950 farmers and that there are about 600-700 tons of hazelnut damage according to the first determinations.

Necessary steps towards loss of compensation will be taken stated the Minister Pakdemirli. "Hazelnut harvest is around 200 thousand tons per a year. Normally 72 tons of hazelnut crops were expected especially in Perşembe, İkizce, Ünye and Fatsa, places where hit by flood disaster.  The one-third harvest was expecting from these areas. The ministry officials interviewed 950 couples very quickly, and at the end of the talks it was determined that the potential loss could be around 600-700 tons," he said.
