43 people have died in the last 24 hours, rising the country’s death toll due to the virus to 6,692.
More than 132,700 patients suffering from coronavirus have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.
The low preliminary fatality rate was seen in Germany, compared to Italy and Spain, resulting in a discussion and explanations that cite the country's higher number of tests performed, higher number of available intensive care beds with respiratory support, absence of COVID-19 analyses in autopsies performed and higher proportion of positive cases among younger people.
However, the head of the Robert Koch Institute warned that the German death rate would increase over time.
Globally, at least 3,568,148 people have so far tested positive for coronavirus. Of those, more than 248,347 people have lost their lives until now.
