Ağrı Mayor Sayan to send masks to Trump, Hollywood stars

Savcı Sayan, the mayor of Ağrı province in eastern Turkey, will send letters alongside boxes of masks to U.S. President Donald Trump and 371 celebrities living in New York, including Hollywood stars.

Among those who have difficulty to obtain masks were people with millions of dollars in wealth, he said, adding that he also sent a letter to the people he sent masks to.

“We send the masks we produce sent to our Ministry of Health in accordance with the technique and discipline of the state. It's being distributed by the health department. Our government sends medical supplies to many countries, including the United States, Britain and many other European countries, at the behest of our President,” Sayan stated.

Reminding that Turkey has provided medical supplies such as medical gloves and masks to many countries, he added: “We are trying to do our best to reduce the impact of Coronavirus pandemic on people in our province and we also want to show the world and our country the work done in our province.”

Sayan went on to say: “We have heard that there are even people with millions of dollars in wealth among those who have difficulty to obtain masks. Therefore, we will send boxes of masks, which are produced by the municipality of Ağrı, to the Hollywood stars, the mayor and the governor of New York as well as the U.S. president Donald Trump. We put an English letter in each mask box.”

The U.S., which is the hardest hit country by coronavirus, has reported more than 1,038,000 confirmed cases, with at least 60,000 deaths.
